Every Thursday evening First United Methodist Church becomes a special place of hope, grace, and healing as over 100 people gather to “celebrate” recovery through our CR St Pete ministry. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, biblically-based program of recovery for individuals and family members who are struggling with emotional distress, addictive issues, and other life issues. People just like you are here each week to get help, support, and encouragement with all of life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
It all begins with a great dinner at 5:45 pm (cost is $5.00 per person); at 7:00 pm we experience a high energy and inspirational worship experience which includes praise music and special music; testimonies of grace-filled recoveries, a reading of the 12 Steps and their Biblical Comparisons, and a Message of Hope delivered by Dr. Gil Smith or a special guest.
Immediately following worship, we offer various small groups built around particular recovery issues and facilitated by persons who have been there and found healing. The small groups are based on an open-share model of a spiritually grounded therapeutic community. The night’s program concludes by 9:15 pm. CR St Pete is for the entire family! We have a program designed for children (ages 5-12) called Celebration Station; and, a Teen Support Group that we refer to as The Landing. We also offer Nursery Care for infants through 4 yrs. Along with our Chemical Dependency Groups, we also offer Family Support, Women’s Codependency, Eating Disorders, Men’s Issues, and a group called Life Hurts, God Heals. We also have a 12 week class on Anger Management taught by Dr. Peggy Reynolds.
You are welcome any and every Thursday evening at CR St Pete!
