Meet David Miller
David Miller has been the Lead Pastor of First United Methodist Church since 2007. Personally, David is working to increase his knowledge of the scripture, to spend more time in prayer and to improve the consistency of his witness for Jesus Christ.
Previous to First Church, he planted Hope United Methodist Church in Trinity, Florida where he served for twelve years. Additionally, he was a senior pastor at FUMC of Gulfport, Florida and an associate pastor at FUMC of Coral Gables, Florida. David received his undergraduate education at Wheaton College in Illinois and graduated from the Candler Divinity School at Emory University with a Masters of Divinity. He was called in the ministry in 1987 while working as a youth director at Silver Palm United Methodist Church in Homestead, Florida.
He made a commitment to be a disciple of Jesus Christ when he was very young. Thanks to his parents, David grew up in the church and had the gift of becoming involved in a strong youth program. In high school he had the opportunity to go to South Africa on a summer mission trip. These experiences nurtured his faith and set him on a lifelong quest to become more like Jesus Christ.
He has been married to Robyn since 1995. She is a skilled commercial property manager, and a wonderful mother to their three children. They spend lots of free moments at the soccer field with their kids.
David is a runner; he says it keeps his sanity. But he also loves the beach, traveling and is a big hockey fan! He listens to all kinds of music and likes reading about history and leadership.
