A program sponsored by the Children’s Ministry of First United Methodist Church

Director: Jennifer Stewart, 727-894-4661, ext. 2213

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Parent’s Morning out program is to provide parents of First United Methodist Church and parents in the community with a safe, secure environment for their children. Playing with other children and the caregivers will be the primary vehicle for helping children in their developmental tasks. Children will be involved in story time, music, movement, and art. We will offer a play-based approach that encourages creativity, exploration and discovery. Recognizing in some instances that PMO is the first time parents and their children may be separated for any length of time, our goal is to foster a nurturing, learning environment in which the children will be safe and feel loved. Where they can cultivate their natural curiosity and creativity; parents can comfortably leave their children behind and enjoy a few hours of free time.

CALENDAR

Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon. Fall session begins September 4th.

TUITION AND FINANCIAL POLICY

There is no registration fee, but parents are responsible for providing a daily snack. The cost for the PMO program is $17 per day and can be paid daily or billed each month.

STRUCTURE

PMO is open to children 6 months to 2 years. We have two, background-checked, adult-staff who work each day. Daily enrollment is limited to 10 children per 2 adults. PMO is intended to be a “drop-in” program and not a “day care” program, therefore, children are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. There are no reservations or spots saved and the use of our program must vary from week to week. We are NOT licensed by the Pinellas County License Board.

ACTIVITIES

Some of the activities through which learning takes place are: Stories- read aloud by the teachers; Music- songs, rhythms, instruments, body movements; Art- age appropriate crafts with teacher help; Play through active participation and interaction; Riding and climbing on developmentally appropriate equipment in playroom/playground. Snack time- provided by the parent each morning.

Other Church Programs

Our commitment to positive Christian education for all children runs from the loving care of our nurseries to the wide variety of programs for elementary ages. First Church Children are actively involved in learning, missions, fellowship and worship. We are a community of Christians who share with parents/families the joys and responsibilities of nurturing children in their faith. With our great staff of adults and volunteers, our children feel loved and wanted here. All children are welcome members of the First Church family. By participating in activities designed especially for their age group and through other special programming, children can grow in their understanding of God, discover more about their mission in the world and enjoy friendships at church. Bible based curriculum guides our teachers and students as they explore familiar Christian themes and move to increasing deeper levels of meaning within their faith.
